Government grants & schemes for Hospitality businesses to apply for post lockdown aid.
With lockdown mostly behind us in NSW and over 80% of the population vaccinated, it’s great to see hospitality venues are now getting the chance to start recovering and restrictions start to lift.
As a reminder, further easements on restrictions are expected on the 1st December including:
- Most venues moving to the 2sqm rule
- No person limit in hospitality settings, density limits still apply.
- Singing and dancing are permitted indoors and outdoors.
- Drinking indoors and outdoors may be seated or standing.
As an added bonus people who are not fully vaccinated will have greater freedoms at this time also, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
We have put this guide together for hospitality businesses so they can avail themselves of the different government schemes and services put in place to help accelerate that recovery.
Please note - while we have done our best here to pull together information that may be useful to you in the hospitality industry, we still advise that you check the information for yourselves and do not rely upon this advice, solely. For those of you who have still to receive your vaccination, you can find the booking link here.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has confirmed COVID disaster payments will come to an end as states and territories meet vaccine milestones.
The absence of financial support will result in an additional challenge for businesses as they reopen with restrictions in place, however there is still some support in place.
This COVID-19 Support for individuals & Businesses PDF outlines the support offered by the NSW government that is available not only to hospitality, but also micro to medium businesses, not-for-profit organisations, performing arts, accommodation providers and media outlets.
One of the programs you can avail of is The Alfresco Restart initiatives which will see the streets of NSW come alive post lockdown with a whopping $66million in funding:
The Festival of Place - where local streets will be revitalised with murals, art installations, laneway cinemas and more to kickstart a 24-hour economy. The Festival includes:
Long Summer Nights Program at the Rocks, Darling Harbour and The Domain
Changing the outdoor dining planning rules permanently to allow pubs and small bars to implement outdoor dining more easily
Setting up emergency temporary alfresco dining measures for businesses to set up dining in parks and public spaces
Offering $5,000 grants for hospitality businesses to get their outdoor dining ventures in a park or public space off the ground
Businesses, sole traders and small not-for-profits
The new small business support payment will support up to an estimated 500,000 entities employing more than 3 million people.
